The A7 is a toll motorway operated by ADM, Autoroutes du Maroc, which links Marrakech to Casablanca in the north and to Agadir in the south. The Marrakech – Agadir stretch covers 250 km. Its highest point reaches 380 metres.
ADM, Autoroutes du Maroc, is the state company that builds and operates Morocco’s national motorway network.
The Marrakech – Agadir stretch carries no tunnels and crosses its highest point at 380 metres, well below the Tizi n’Tichka pass.
How do you pay the toll on the A7 motorway?
The toll is paid in cash, by bank card, or with the Jawaz badge, at the exit toll gate. The Jawaz badge debits the account automatically with no stop at the barrier. Cash is accepted in dirhams and euros at the main toll gates.
The Jawaz badge is an electronic toll subscription issued by ADM, valid across the whole Moroccan motorway network.
International Visa and Mastercard bank cards are accepted at every toll gate on the A7.
Where are the service areas and fuel stations on the A7?
Service areas line the route near Chichaoua, at km 75, and Imi n’Tanoute, at km 110. Each area carries a fuel station, restrooms and a fast-food space. No service area sits between Argana and Agadir over the final 50 km.
The A7's fuel stations sell diesel and unleaded petrol, with no reported stock shortage on this stretch.
Argana, at km 135, carries only an emergency stop with no fuel and no shop.
What are the speed limits on the A7 and the national roads?
The A7 motorway sets a maximum speed of 120 km/h, against 100 km/h on national roads such as the N8. The limit drops to 60 km/h in rain. Town crossings on the N8 set a 40 km/h limit.
Fixed speed cameras on the A7 cluster near the Chichaoua and Imi n’Tanoute toll gates.
Exceeding the limit by 20 km/h triggers a points deduction on the Moroccan licence.
How does the A7 motorway compare with the old road N8?
The A7 covers 250 km in 2 h 50, with a 70 MAD toll. The toll-free N8 also links Marrakech to Agadir but crosses Chichaoua, Imi n’Tanoute and Argana at 40 km/h. The A7 saves close to an hour on the same journey.
Road N8 also links Marrakech to Agadir through the interior, toll-free but with slower town crossings.
The N8 route, with no toll, takes longer than the A7 because of its three town crossings at 40 km/h.
What other toll roads run from Marrakech?
The A7 also extends north, on the Marrakech – Casablanca axis, with a 75 MAD toll over 240 km.
A driver who knows the toll gates and the service areas avoids unplanned stops over the 250 km of the route toward Agadir.
