What are the 7-seater van specifications?

The Mercedes Vito offers 7 seats, 7 bags of hold space and 76 cm between rows. Its 5.14 m length lets it into the narrow lanes of the medina and into short Guéliz parking bays.

How many people does a 7-seater van suit?

The 7-seater van suits 7 adult passengers with one cabin bag each, or 4 passengers with one large suitcase each. Beyond 4 large suitcases the third row becomes hold space and real capacity drops to 4 people.

The trade-off is entirely about hold volume. With all seven seats occupied, 1.1 m³ remains behind the last row — seven cabin-size cases of 55 × 40 × 20 cm.

Folding the third row raises the volume to 3.0 m³ and takes four large suitcases of 75 × 50 × 30 cm. The vehicle then carries four passengers.

For a group of 6 to 7 each travelling with a large suitcase, the 9-seater minibus is the right capacity. Its 1.3 m³ hold takes five large suitcases without folding a seat.

What is the 7-seater van best used for?

The 7-seater van covers airport transfers, transfers within Marrakech and day trips, with a driver included anywhere in Morocco. This capacity carries the fleet’s lowest rate, €70 a day against €85 for a 9-seater.

Its 5.14 m length lets it take the narrowest lanes of the medina and park in the short Guéliz bays a 12-seater minibus cannot enter.

On runs over 500 km, such as Marrakech to Merzouga, its 7.4 l/100 km consumption cuts the fuel cost by 3.4 l/100 km against the 12-seater minibus.

The 7-seater van is also searched as a 7-seater minivan or a 7-seat car in Morocco. All three name the same Mercedes Vito, with a driver, available nationwide.

7-seater van or 9-seater minibus: what is the difference?

The 7-seater van and the 9-seater minibus describe the same class of vehicle. Moroccan hire firms say "van" up to 9 seats and "minibus" beyond it. Move up to the 9-seater once the group passes 7 people or everyone carries a large suitcase.

Frequently asked questions

Is a driver included with the 7-seater van?

Yes, always. Tourist passenger transport in Morocco requires a driver with a category D licence and a professional card. The driver’s seat is not counted in the 7 passenger seats.

Is the 7-seater van offered without a driver?

No, never. Dahir n° 1-63-260 on road motor vehicle transport rules out hiring a van without a driver for tourist use in Morocco. A driver holding the professional card remains mandatory.

From how many seats do hire firms say minibus instead of van?

From 9 seats up. Moroccan hire firms say van for 1 to 9 seats and minibus from 9 up. Our Hyundai Staria 9-seater carries both labels in our listings, alongside the Mercedes Vito reviewed here.

Can child seats be fitted in a 7-seater van?

Yes, up to three, at no extra charge. The Vito’s three Isofix anchors sit on the second row, even with the third row folded flat into hold space. Boosters and infant seats are added at no extra charge at booking.

How far ahead should a 7-seater van be booked?

48 hours is enough outside high season. Between March and May and again between September and November, book a week ahead: all 5 vehicles in this capacity go out full every weekend.

Does the price change with the number of passengers?

No. The rate is set per vehicle. Two passengers in a van pay €70 a day, the same as seven. The van stays the fleet’s cheapest capacity, €15 less per day than a 9-seater minibus.
