How many people does a 9-seater minibus suit?

The 9-seater suits 9 adult passengers with one cabin bag each, or 7 passengers with one large suitcase each. Beyond 7 large suitcases the third row becomes hold space and real capacity drops to 6 people.

The Staria balances occupied seats against luggage in a 1.3 m³ hold. Nine occupied seats leave nine cabin-size cases of 55 × 40 × 20 cm behind the last row.

Folding the third row raises the volume to 3.4 m³ and takes seven checked suitcases of 75 × 50 × 30 cm. The vehicle then carries six passengers.

For a group of 9 each travelling with a large suitcase, the 12-seater is the right capacity: it offers 14 bags of hold space without giving up a seat.

What is the 9-seater minibus best used for?

The 9-seater minibus covers airport transfers, day trips and three-day tours. This capacity handles 62% of our jobs, because it takes the same roads and the same car parks as a car.

Its 5.25 m length lets it take the access track to the Aït-Ben-Haddou ksar and the narrow streets of Guéliz, which the 15-seater cannot.

On runs over 500 km, such as Marrakech to Merzouga, it stays comfortable with seven passengers but becomes tight with nine plus three days of luggage.

Should you take a 7, a 9 or a 12-seater?

Move up to the 12-seater as soon as the group passes 9 people or everyone carries a large suitcase. Drop to the 7-seater below 6 passengers: it uses 1.8 l/100 km less and costs €15 less per day.

Frequently asked questions

Is a driver included with the 9-seater minibus?

Yes, always. Tourist passenger transport in Morocco requires a driver with a category D licence and a professional card. The driver’s seat is not counted in the 9 passenger seats.

What is the difference between a 9-seater van and a 9-seater minibus?

No difference in capacity: the two words describe the same vehicle. Hire firms say "van" for 7 to 9 seats and "minibus" from 9 up. Our Hyundai Staria carries both labels.

Can child seats be fitted in a 9-seater?

Yes, up to three, at no extra charge. The Staria’s second row fixes child seats on three Isofix anchors, 78 cm from the row behind. Boosters and infant seats install on request at booking.

Can a 9-seater minibus drive on desert tracks?

Yes, on graded track and firm sand. The Staria reaches the Agafay camp and the edge of Erg Chebbi. Crossing soft dune requires a 4×4, which we charter alongside. The erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga lie 561 km east of Marrakech.

How far ahead should a 9-seater be booked?

48 hours is enough outside high season. Between March and May and again between September and November, book a week ahead: all 8 vehicles in this capacity go out full every Saturday and Sunday.

Does the price change if there are fewer than nine of us?

No. The rate is set per vehicle. Four passengers in a 9-seater pay €85 a day, the same as nine. Below six people, the 7-seater van brings the day down to €70.
